One of students’ desires is to be granted scholarships to study in their dream universities. Some students are unable to further their education due to lack of adequate resources to fund their education.
However, the Hope Scholarships have made it possible for students who are seeking to further their higher education in Tennessee.
The Tennessee Hope Scholarships have assisted thousands of students to pay for their studies in the university. These students have gone ahead to become their best selves as many of them have gone to various parts of the world to become prominent individuals.
The scholarship is awarded by the state government to finance students living in Tennessee. However, the award amounts of the program vary depending on candidates’ program duration.
The Tennessee HOPE Scholarship is an initiative of the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation. The program was inaugurated to establish merit-based financial aid for students studying in Tennessee public colleges, universities, and/or private colleges. The scholarship is also open to home-schooled students and those who have passed the GED exam.
Awards
The award amounts of the scholarship vary depending on the candidates’ school of choice. Students enrolled in a two-year college can earn up to $1,500 during the first two years of the program to cover tuition fees. Students enrolled in a four-year institution can earn up to $1,750 during the first two years of the program.
However, the maximum award amount for students seeking to enroll in a full-time program has been increased to $2,250.
The award is renewable, however, awards granted by the HOPE scholarship will be discontinued when the applicant has reached the maximum five-year registration period. Candidates will also stop receiving the award as soon as they have obtained a bachelor’s degree.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for this scholarship opportunity, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Candidates must be a resident of Tennessee.
- Candidates must be attending an eligible postsecondary school in Tennessee.
- Applicants must come from homes where their annual income is less than $36,000.
- Must be an undergraduate student.
- Must be willing to enroll in a university to study a two-year or four-year course.
- Students must have obtained a 3.0 cumulative GPA or above.
- Students must have obtained at least a 21 on their ACT or 1060 on the SAT
The TN Hope Scholarships can be renewed as long as students are able to maintain the eligibility criteria.
The scholarship is open to only United States citizens and will be hosted in Tennessee. Candidates should note that there are other Hope Scholarships hosted in other states.
How to Apply
To apply for this scholarship opportunity, candidates are to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students must achieve a minimum 3.0 GPA or 21 or above GPA
Students must receive at least a 21 on their ACT or 1060 on the SAT
Application Deadline
The applications deadline for the fall semester is September 1st.
